We also showcased former New Hanover Wildcat Cari Blalock. The UNC Tar Heel is just one day away from competing in the US Olympic Swimming Trials in Nebraska.

On Friday night on WWAY we featured a local softball tournament, boxing, Wilmington Sharks baseball, Wilmington Hammerheads soccer and a US Olympic Trials swimmer who calls Wilmington home.

Though the weather has cooled off a bit from Wednesday evening's thunderstorms, it was preceded by record temperatures in the triple digits. The Dixie Youth Softball Tournament started this Saturday in Wilmington. Players keeping active in this horrible heat say its just part of the game.
