The Burgaw Belles traveled all the way to Louisiana in order to compete against a slew of state champion softball teams. In the finals the girls from Burgaw had to face Louisiana. As it turns out Burgaw won 12-7 on Thursday afternoon to capture the Dixie Belles World Series title. Full story...

Former Hoggard Viking offensive lineman Jonathan Cooper missed his entire rookie season with the Arizona Cardinals after breaking his leg in a preseason game last August. Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians earlier this week said Cooper needs to shake off the rust. Cooper even admitted his level of play is not where it needs to be. The Wilmington Waves 7th grade basketball team captured a national title for travel basketbal in Myrtle Beach. Hoggard football coach Scott Braswell is back in Wilmington. The 2014 baseball season is now over for the Wilmington Sharks. The playoffs will start on Wednesday, but the Sharks won't be included. Full story...

On Wednesday we profiled a role reversal at the Wilmington Tigers football practice. NFL rookie Jonathan Cooper switched roles. The NFL first round draft pick watched his brother, Joshua, as the Wilmington Tigers gear up for their season opener in Wilmington this weekend. Though the weather has cooled off a bit from Wednesday evening's thunderstorms, it was preceded by record temperatures in the triple digits. The Dixie Youth Softball Tournament started this Saturday in Wilmington. Players keeping active in this horrible heat say its just part of the game. Full story...
