The first round of the soccer playoffs concluded on Wednesday night all around the state. The majority of our local squads won. Winners advance to the second round of the state playoffs later this week. Plus, we checked in with former UNCW Seahawk basketball standout Adam Smith on Wednesday. New Hanover High doesn't shy away from a tough non-conference football schedule. The Wildcats travel to Laurinburg on Friday in order to play perennial power Scotland County. This year's senior class of baseball players has been one of the best to pass through the hallways of North Brunswick High School in Leland. On Friday the Scorpions played their final home game of the regular season. It was a fairly dramatic victory over Dixon. In fact the game included a grand slam! Full story...

Friday's Full Court Press featured a come from behind victory by New Hanover against West Brunswick in a battle of first place versus second place in the Mideastern Conference. We had basketball coverage from Hoggard-Laney, Topsail-South Brunswick, Trask-Midway, North Brunswick-Dixon and East Columbus-Red Springs too. We also took an in-depth look at Monday's MLK Jamfest that will be held in Sampson County. On Tuesday on WWAY we checked out the home opener of the 4-A defending state champion New Hanover Wildcats. Tuesday marked the beginning of the Nathan Faulk era at Laney High School. Tuesday also marked the final game for Coastal Christian at their current basketball facility. The Centurions move into a new gym on Friday.Full story...
