Former New Hanover Wildcat David Pellom is still alive in the "Big Dance." Laney grad Elijah Wilson will not be moving on. His Coastal Carolina Chanticleers were eliminated by Virginia. The UNC Tar Heels are still kicking. The Duke Blue Devils are not. We had loads of high school sports on Friday night including a father-son matchup at Legion Stadium. NC State is the first ACC basketball team to secure a win in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament in 2014. The Wolfpack basketball squad defeated Xavier on Tuesday. Former UNCW guard Billy Donlon is now the Wright State men's basketball coach. Wright State ended East Carolina's season on Tuesday in the CIT. On Tuesday we checked out practice at Trask Coliseum. Buzz Peterson and the UNCW Seahawks need to win four games over a four day stretch to earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament. The odds are against the Seahawks, but stranger things have happened. The UNCW baseball team lost the final game of their west coast trip. On Tuesday we showcased former Hoggard pitcher Bryan Sammons. The lefty beat Clemson in his first career start. Regional play is underway for high school basketball. Check out our preview. Plus more. Wednesday was a full night for boys high school hoops on WWAY. We had tournament coverage from the Four County Conference and the Mideastern Conference. The losing skid continues for Buzz Peterson's UNCW basketball squad. The Seahawks lost to Hofstra on Wednesday. The Ashley girls basketball team has to forfeit four games. Hoggard High graduate Derek Brunson stepped back into the octagon on Wednesday for his third UFC fight.
