The Whiteville baseball squad certainly made it exciting on Saturday. The Wolfpack squad had to score at least one run in the 7th inning to keep their season alive. As it turns out they scored two. Whiteville in a come from behind win captured the 1-A state baseball title on Saturday. The Whiteville softball team finished as the 1-A runner-up. Full story...

It only took one outing on the mound for Hoggard graduate Joe O'Donnell to earn pitcher of the week honors in the Coastal Plain League. O'Donnell was the winning pitcher in Wilmington's first win of the season on Saturday. Without O'Donnell on the mound the Sharks won their second game in a row on Monday. Plus more! Full story...

Friday night belonged to the Whiteville Wolfpack. The Whiteville Wolfpack softball team captured the 1-A East Championship. The Whiteville Wolfpack baseball team had to wait until Saturday, but they won the 1-A East Championship too! Both team are now state title bound. Full story...

Two local soccer squads both lost in overtime in the state playoffs on Tuesday night. The Topsail baseball team managed to avoid defeat though. Topsail is now just one victory away from being in the state championship series next week. Full story...

The baseball season ended on Friday night for UNCW. Only two teams remain alive in the quest for a CAA Baseball Championship: William & Mary and the College of Charleston. The Wilmington Hammerheads erupted with five goals on Friday night at Legion Stadium. In the state playoffs Topsail and Whiteville both advance in the baseball state playoffs on Friday.
