UNCW head basketball coach Kevin Keatts said last year's UNCW team would have found a way to lose Wednesday's home game against the Liberty Flames. As it turns out, UNCW won a sloppy, physical game in overtime to improve to 4-3 on the season. The game was highlighted by a handful of dunks. The Ashley Screaming Eagles overcame an early deficit to take the lead in the second half against White Oak on Monday night, but the Vikings prevailed in the end against Ashley. On Monday we also featured former New Hanover football standout Trevon Brown. The East Carolina freshman wide receiver caught a touchdown pass over the weekend against nationally ranked Virginia Tech. Full story...

Former Laney Buccaneer Tamera Young may have saved her best game of the season for crunch time. Chicago trailed by 20 points in game 3 of a best of 3 first round WNBA playoff series. Young scored 16 points in Chicago's come from behind 81-80 victory. Full story...

The baseball season ended on Friday night for UNCW. Only two teams remain alive in the quest for a CAA Baseball Championship: William & Mary and the College of Charleston. The Wilmington Hammerheads erupted with five goals on Friday night at Legion Stadium. In the state playoffs Topsail and Whiteville both advance in the baseball state playoffs on Friday. This year's senior class of baseball players has been one of the best to pass through the hallways of North Brunswick High School in Leland. On Friday the Scorpions played their final home game of the regular season. It was a fairly dramatic victory over Dixon. In fact the game included a grand slam! Full story...
