Improvements to major interstate arteries and urban loops and the completion of a Triangle-area light rail project are on North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper's funding wish list if there is a federal infrastructure improvement plan.
Motorists are again traveling on Interstate 95, one of the East Coast's busiest highways, but the road's normal flow from Florida and Maine remains stalled by the flooding that's snarled South Carolina traffic for days.
The state Department of Transportation is
holding public hearings this month to discuss planned construction
on Interstate 95 that would start in 2016 and toll collection that
would start three years later.
