The YMCA held their 8th Annual Gallop for the Gravy event today.Event organizer Alex Mozingo says they had fewer people this year because of weather concerns, but races on Thanksgiving day have become a trend.
Happening this weekend is the annual JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes at Mayfaire in Wilmington. The event brings people from all over the area to raise awareness and money for research. This year you can walk a 1 mile or 5K route, enjoy a kids corner, live music and a lunch of BBQ and hot dogs.
Depending on who you ask, about 30 thousand people attempt to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa every year. 20 people from around the world, all Type 1 diabetics, will do just that in June. One is from Wilmington.
A Wilmington teen represented North Carolina at the JDRF Children's Congress in Washington. He was one of 150 children with Juvenile Diabetes from around the country that gathered to lobby congress.
