The battle between Brunswick County District Attorney Jon David and District Court Judge Jerry Jolly finally had its day in the state Supreme Court. WWAY was the only Wilmington TV station in the courtroom in Raleigh as justices heard arguments from both sides today about a dispute over traffic court.

As you saw ONLY ON 3 last night, in the last four months, hundreds of people in Columbus County, including some with violent charges, have been issued unsecured bonds. The judge responsible for the new bond policy spoke to WWAY this afternoon to defend the policy.

Since Jon David has no authority to petition for a writ in the name of the State of North Carolina, the Petition should be summarily dismissed. In the alternative, the Petition for a writ of mandamus should be denied, since Petitioner, Jon David, has no clear right to an administrative traffic court or administrative traffic court days.
