Here in Wilmington this weekend, doctors, nurses and other emergency workers are learning from counterparts who handled last year's shooting of Rep. Gabby Giffords and the killer tornadoes in Joplin, MO.
A local woman had a simple idea, and she acted on it. As a result she will send hundreds of dollars to Joplin tornado victims.
Joplin, MO, is a small city that April’s storms put on the map as soon as they wiped it off. It was then that Wilmington photographer Amy McConnell grabbed her camera and hit the road to her hometown to capture the devastation. McConnell says she found one thing still standing amongst the rubble: the American flag.
