Authorities say a Kinston man was sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder in the death of a special deputy U.S. marshal.
Lamont Byrd was sentenced Monday in the death of Warren Lewis III, who also was an investigator with the Nash County Sheriff's Office and was assigned to a federal regional fugitive force.
