NC governor enters immigration order lawsuit

Gov. Pat McCrory says he joined a lawsuit brought by the Texas attorney general challenging President Barack Obama's executive order last month on immigration because the president exceeded his powers laid out in the U.S. Constitution. McCrory made North Carolina one of the 17 states involved in the lawsuit filed Wednesday in federal court over Obama's order designed to keep as many as five million people living illegally in the United States from being deported.

NC sterilization agency reports 780 claims filed

Nearly 800 people thought to be victims of North Carolina's sterilization program have submitted forms to claim compensation from the state. The Office for Justice of Sterilization Victims says as of July 17, it has received 780 forms from potential eugenics board victims. They had until June 30 to submit a claim to be considered for compensation.

Delay sought on NC same-sex marriage lawsuit

North Carolina's attorney general is asking a judge to delay the most recent lawsuit over the state's same-sex marriage ban, saying an order expected later this year in another case likely will resolve the situation.
