Hammerheads FC can't find the back of the net; Sharks defeat the RedWolves at the Shark Tank

videoThe Wilmington Hammerheads haven't won a soccer game since late May. They were hoping that would change on Friday night in Pennsylvania, but the Harrisburg City Islanders and the Hammerheads ended up with a scoreless draw. The Hammerheads will face Rochester on Saturday night in New York. The Wilmington Sharks did win though. The Sharks beat the Florence RedWolves with the addition of a new player from UNCW. Ashley grad Christian Wolfe hangs up the bat and glove for good with Sharks & UNCW

videoFormer Ashley Screaming Eagle baseball standout Christian Wolfe has decided to put up his bat and glove for good. This means he's off the Wilmington Sharks roster. He won't be playing at UNCW anymore either. On Thursday without Christian Wolfe the Wilmington Sharks split their doubleheader with Morehead City. Wilmington Post 10 is state tournament bound. Rocky Lewis named head football coach at East Columbus; Sharks lose & more

videoIt didn't take long for East Columbus High to name a new head football coach. Rocky Lewis, son of legendary Clinton head coach Bob Lewis, will take over the Gators. The Wilmington Sharks lost on the road on Wednesday, but they'll be back at home on Thursday for a doubleheader. Plus more!

videoFormer NFL tight end Alge Crumpler will be returning to Wilmington this weekend. The New Hanover High graduate heads this year's induction class for the 2014 Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame. On Wednesday we addressed the home scoring drought for the Wilmington Hammerheads. On Wednesday the NCHSSA adopted new guidelines concerning the mercy rule for high school football and basketball. Plus more including a Blizzard/Callahan matchup in Italy!

Tennis seniors earn top honors at UNCW sports banquet

videoUNCW parlayed a sweep of the recent Colonial Athletic Association Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships and the stars of those two teams, Rafael Aita and Angie Sekely, received the Thomas V. Moseley Awards as UNCW's top student-athletes for 2013-14 at Monday's athletic awards banquet at the Burney Center.

Sunday Seahawk roundup

On Sunday UNCW's Lori Beth Adams won her first collegiate golf title. Adams captured first place at the Seahawk Classic at River Landing. The UNCW women's tennis team won their regular season home finale. The Seahawks are now 4-0 in the CAA. Less to brag about on Sunday for UNCW baseball and softball.

videoOn Thursday night we checked out baseball playoff action. The Wilmington Sharks had a chance to wrap up their first round series, but the Peninsula Pilots had different plans. Wilmington Post 10 was victorious though. Post 10 advances to the winner's bracket of the legion baseball regionals. Lori Beth Adams made a valiant effort, but the UNCW senior came up short at the U.S. Women's Amateur in Charleston. Plus more!
