National Weather Service in Wilmington offers tours for the deaf and hard of hearing today

As Weather Ready Nation Ambassadors, the NC Division of Services Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DSDHH) Regional Center in Wilmington North Carolina is partnering with the National Weather Service Office in Wilmington and WWAY to host a series of fun and informational seminars for deaf and hard of hearing community in the Cape Fear Region.

Hurricane Hazel town hall meeting tonight marks storm's 60th anniversary

Disaster preparedness fair educates public

video In honor of national disaster preparedness month, The Cape Fear Volunteer Center hosted a fair at the Independence Mall on Saturday. They were joined with the Wilmington Fire Department, Emergency Management, The National Weather Service, and Disaster One all which were giving out information to the public to prepared them for any disaster that could happen.

National Weather Service confirms NC tornado

The National Weather Service says it was an EF-2 tornado that struck rural Beaufort County, destroying two homes and damaging at least six more. Meteorologist Jim Merrell of the National Weather Service office in Newport said the storm was up to 300 yards wide when it struck Monday. He said the storm's track length hasn't been determined.

National Weather Service confirms tornado in Atlantic Beach

The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Atlantic Beach. It was an EF2 tornado, and had wind speeds between 111 to 135 mph, according to the NWS.
