We featured the top boys lacrosse team in Wilmington, Cape Fear Academy, the defending state champion baseball team from Whiteville along with baseball, softball and soccer involving Ashley and New Hanover. It was a tremendous college basketball game between two outstanding teams at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. It resembled a classic heavyweight championship boxing match. In the end the Louisville Cardinals prevailed over the Michigan Wolverines. Full story...

On Monday NC State introduced Wes Moore as the new leader of the pack for women's basketball. Moore replaces Kellie Harper. Former East Bladen Eagle football standout Desmond Bryant purchased a variety of sports equipment for the East Bladen football team. On Sunday the Wilmington Sea Dawgs lost the 2013 basketball season opener at Blizzard Athletics, the new home of the Dawgs. Former New Hanover basketball standout Kadeem Allen made the Juco All-America team. On Sunday the UNCW baseball team held off Davidson. It was the 23rd win of the season for Mark Scalf's squad. The basketball season concluded for the North Carolina Tar Heels on Sunday, but the season continues for Miami and Duke. The CAA is about to lose another member school. George Mason is expected to officially announce their plans to join the Atlantic 10 on Monday. Friday was a day of upsets in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. NC State's loss on Friday wasn't necessarily an upset, but Wolfpack fans are upset with the result nonetheless. On Wednesday the Cleveland Cavaliers did more than test the Miami Heat. Miami overcame a 27 point deficit to keep the second longest NBA streak in history alive. Former Hoggard High standout Stilman White had a game high seven assists for UNC on Sunday in his second collegiate start at point guard for North Carolina. White tallied four points in 28 minutes of play. For the second time this week he did not have any turnovers. Full story...
