The Surf City Swing Bridge is temporarily shut down.
A construction crew will be widening the road, repaving an area between I-140 and Pineland Road, and installing “rumble strips”, which let drivers know if they have unintentionally left the roadway.
The NCDOT will be repaving the roads, which it says improves traction and ride quality. It says that this is especially important for maintaining safety during rainy and snowy weather.
A busy intersection in New Hanover County will soon be closed for several months as NCDOT replaces an old pipe.
