Traffic near Wrightsville Beach may have another obstacle. The City of Wilmington has asked the state to temporarily keep drivers from turning left onto and off of Airlie Road.

NCDOT Sec. addresses licenses for immigrants, I-140 construction

video The newly-appointed secretary of the NC Department of Transportation made a stop in Wilmington Friday. Tony Tata joined other dignitaries at a luncheon hosted by the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce. Before the event got underway, Tata addressed his department's decision to issue driver's licenses to qualifying immigrants, saying it's a matter of public safety.

NCDOT to issue driver licenses for immigrants who qualify

The N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT) today announced that it will soon begin issuing driver licenses and identification cards to applicants qualified under the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The DACA program grants work permits to immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children.

Interim chief named for NC Ports

Miles, who joined the Ports in 2005 as Chief Operating Officer and was promoted to Deputy Executive Director in 2012, replaces Tom Bradshaw, who stepped down earlier this week after a year on the job.

Bradshaw out as Ports Authority executive director

video Tom Bradshaw is out as executive director of the NC State Ports Authority, an official confirmed on Monday. Ports authority spokeswoman Laura Blair said Bradshaw no longer works for the NC Department of Transportation, but provided no other information.
