Due to long travel for some teams in the state playoffs the start times are typically quite scattered. This year is no exception. Basketball state playoffs begin on Monday; brackets have been released

We're excited about the start of the state playoffs for high school basketball. Playoff action will begin on Monday. The New Hanover boys basketball squad earned the #1 seed in the 4-A East. New Hanover is the only team in the WWAY viewing area to earn a #1 seed. The pairings for the NC independent schools is included as well. Full story...

Some schools are movin' on up. Some are staying put. In Wilmington the new conference looks like it's going to be a split conference. Either way you slice it the North Carolina High School Athletic Association released its second realignment plan on Thursday. Full story...

Sheila Boles honored on NCHSAA Day

Former Hoggard High School director of athletics Sheila Boles was honored on the football field at the half of the UNC-Rutgers game in Chapel Hill. Boles will officially be inducted into the NCHSAA Hall of Fame in the spring. Full story...
