The Friends of the Library is holding its semiannual book sale. Since the group first began holding book sales in 1983 it has raised $945,000. With this sale, the group hopes to raise $55,000, which will break the $1 million mark this weekend. That's money that goes right back to the library.

A traveling Civil War exhibit is currently on display at the New Hanover County Library in downtown Wilmington. The exhibit features images of women, soldiers and freed men. It's a rare look at what life was like during that time.
