Hammerheads partner with Cape Fear Soccer Club; USA football clinic to be held at West Bladen on Saturday
Wilmington Hammerheads FC has a new partnership with the largest youth club in our region. The Hammerheads are excited about the new partnership, but the players appear to be more focused on their next game. Wilmington will host Richmond at Legion Stadium on Saturday night. A free, one-day clinic that's designed to introduce children to football will be held at West Bladen High on Saturday morning. Former Hoggard pitcher picks up win for Sharks; Hornets unveil new uniforms
Hoggard graduate Joe O'Donnell picked up his second win of the season on the mound on Thursday for the Wilmington Sharks. In front of one of the largest crowds of the season the Sharks beat Morehead City. Michael Jordan won't be suiting up for the Charlotte Hornets, but his team will at least look sharp. The Hornets unveiled their new uniforms on Thursday. In Pinehurst a 6th grader won over the crowd with an impressive round at the U.S. Open and a few licks of ice cream during her media conference. The streak is over. West Bladen had a 17 game winning streak over East Bladen in boys basketball until Tuesday night. East Bladen's Hastin McGill hit the game winner to give East Bladen a 46-44 win. It was the first victory for East Bladen over West Bladen since 2005. Pender defeated Trask in boys hoops. Wake Forest edged NC State. The Carolina Hurricanes lost their home opener.
