No charges for former Carolina Beach leaders in SBI probe

Efird receives prestigious honor as SBI investigation continues

video This morning Carolina Beach Town Councilwoman and Mayor Pro-Tem Pat Efird received a very special honor. In fact, it's the highest honor the governor can bestow on a citizen. But the Order of the Long Leaf Pine comes as Efird is also under state investigation.

Outgoing Carolina Beach Council discusses contracts, reflects on term

video Carolina Beach is one week away from swearing-in its new council but the current council remains busy. Tuesday night town council met for a special meeting to discuss the approval of a new parking contract and a management contract involving two town owned motels. The parking contract passed unanimously while the details of the motel contract were discussed but not finalized. These two items possibly being the last ones the outgoing council will have a say on.

Carolina Beach councilwoman responds to SBI investigation

video A Carolina Beach Town Council member under investigation by the SBI is telling her side of the story. An anonymous letter to the Attorney General and District Attorney sparked the probe, which also includes the mayor and another council member.

Carolina Beach Mayor Joel Macon confirmed at Tuesday night's town council meeting that he, Mayor Pro-Tem Pat Efird and councilman Dan Wilcox are all under SBI investigation.
