What started as a stolen vehicle investigation, led to a chase that began in Pender County and ended in New Hanover County Thursday night. Once the suspect took off on foot, the SABLE helicopter was called out to help with the search.

Law enforcement says the SABLE helicopter is a very effective tool to track down suspects or missing persons. This morning, though, Wilmington Police called in SABLE after a vehicle was broken into. Was that a good call?

A vehicle break-in this morning in the parking lot of the Mill Creek Apartments off Kerr Avenue in Wilmington prompted Wilmington Police to call on SABLE to find their suspect.

The SABLE helicopter was hard at work last night chasing a drunk driver trying to evade police.
The New Hanover County Sheriff's Office and the Wilmington Police Department tried to stop the vehicle earlier in the day, but without success.
