Things were back to normal at UNC Wilmington today hours after police searched for an armed robbery suspect on campus prompting a lockdown. It all started when a man reportedly robbed two women at gunpoint in the parking lot of the Hardee's on South College Road. A security lockdown has ended at New Hanover High School, Gregory School of Science, Mathematics and Technology and New Hanover High's Jap Davis Field House, according to New Hanover County Schools. The lock-down at Hoggard, Roland Grise and Alderman schools has been lifted. The Wilmington Police Department and New Hanover Co. Sheriff’s Office are still searching for 27-year-old Andrew Mitchell Narris. They say he's wanted for property crimes. He's a bald, white male wearing a black shirt and cargo pants. Whiteville City Schools went into lockdown mode about 10:30am Thursday after a prisoner escaped from a roadside work crew on NC 701. All five Whiteville public schools were locked down until about 4:00pm. Full story...
