Locals and visitors are making their way to Pleasure Island this weekend for the annual Seafood Blues and Jazz Festival. This year the festival welcomed iconic, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Gregg Allman to the stage. The great food and music attracted a sold out audience this year, and people seemed very satisfied.

Everyone's hoping this weekend's closure of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge will not lead to another episode of "Carmageddon" as it did two weekends ago. To help, the Department of Transportation is adding runs on the Southport-Fort Fisher Ferry.

The 19th Annual Pleasure Island Seafood Blues & Jazz Festival has unveiled the artwork for this year's event.
The painting of a tropically-inspired musician playing the blues as sunset descends over the Cape Fear River is by Wilmington's Barton Hatcher, who grew up in Bladen County.
