There will be at least two new members of the New Hanover County Commission this fall, and there are plenty of people interested in the jobs. New Hanover County Commissioner Tom Wolfe says he will not seek election to a full four-year term this fall. Wolfe was appointed last year to fill the unexpired term of Rick Catlin after Catlin won a seat in the NC House of Representatives. Full story...

New Hanover County Sheriff Ed McMahon told county commissioners this morning he has a new plan to fight crime. It involves a seven new positions, six deputies and one sergeant, who will work side-by-side with seven Wilmington Police officers in the city's public housing projects. Full story...

New Hanover County Commissioners yesterday gave Brian Berger a special mandate to show up on time or else.
