Miles, who joined the Ports in 2005 as Chief Operating Officer and was promoted to Deputy Executive Director in 2012, replaces Tom Bradshaw, who stepped down earlier this week after a year on the job.

Tom Bradshaw is out as executive director of the NC State Ports Authority, an official confirmed on Monday.
Ports authority spokeswoman Laura Blair said Bradshaw no longer works for the NC Department of Transportation, but provided no other information.
