The timeline for another crossing of the Cape Fear River has been pushed back again.
At a meeting Monday of the Cape Fear Crossing Work Group, consultants from URS Corp. said a draft of the environmental impact study will be completed in spring 2016, and a final study will be approved in the summer of 2017.

The Cape Fear Skyway was supposed to ease congestion between New Hanover and Brunswick counties. But it might never happen after a proposal from state Sen. Bill Rabon.
Years of planning and people getting their hopes up might have been for nothing.

Funding for several road construction projects in our area have been cut. The NCDOT’s 10-year transportation improvement plan was underfunded by $73 million. In order to offset that amount, funding for seven projects will be eliminated.
