The UNCW baseball team not only beat the rain on Friday afternoon, the Seahawks beat the Towson Tigers as well. UNCW will look for a repeat the rest of the weekend, but the weather may win out if the forecast holds up. The UNCW women's tennis team is in great shape to win the CAA title. Former New Hanover slugger Jordan Betts knocked in one of Duke's two runs on Friday night off NC State ace Carlos Rodon. Duke edged NC State 2-0. UNCW beat Hofstra 9-2 in college baseball action. On Tuesday we checked out practice at Trask Coliseum. Buzz Peterson and the UNCW Seahawks need to win four games over a four day stretch to earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament. The odds are against the Seahawks, but stranger things have happened. The UNCW baseball team lost the final game of their west coast trip. On Tuesday we showcased former Hoggard pitcher Bryan Sammons. The lefty beat Clemson in his first career start. Regional play is underway for high school basketball. Check out our preview. Plus more. The New Hanover boys basketball team got off to a slow start on Monday in the first round of the state playoffs, but the Wildcats ended up sending Ashley packing. We had highlights from nine different games on Monday! We had video from Shallotte, Jacksonville, Wilmington, Lake Waccamaw, Whiteville and Rocky Point. On Sunday, May 4, the Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame will welcome the 2014 inductees into membership at their annual banquet at the Burney Center on the campus of UNCW. The Reception and Silent Auction will begin at 5 p.m. followed by the induction ceremony and dinner at 6:30 p.m. The annual golf tournament will be held Saturday, May 3. Full story...

On Tuesday we made the trip to Tabor City to get reaction from South Columbus football coach Jake Fonvielle on an NCHSAA ruling that puts an end to the season for the Stallions.
