Teachers' group running anti-Tillis ad in NC

A political spending arm of the nation's largest teachers' union is spending $1.7 million for a commercial in North Carolina's U.S. Senate race critical of House Speaker Thom Tillis on public school spending. The National Education Association said the commercial began running Friday and will continue for a week in six leading television markets. It's also going online.

Protesters attend labor rights rally at NC Capitol

Dozens of demonstrators wearing red union shirts rallied at the North Carolina capitol to call for fair wages and workers' rights. Friday's rally kicked off seven days of demonstrations by the organizers of the "Moral Monday" protests of conservative public policy at the North Carolina Legislature. About 1,000 people have been arrested at the protests during the past two legislative sessions.
