T.J. Warren, Leslie McDonald and Andre Dawkins had more than their fair share of impressive basketball plays in Burgaw on Thursday night. It was Warren's first professional game since declaring himself eligible for the NBA Draft. We had high school baseball action on Thursday. On Wednesday it seemed like every team from our region won in the state playoffs. The New Hanover boys won, Whiteville boys, West Brunswick boys, Trask boys, East Bladen girls, East Columbus girls, Ashley girls and Laney girls all won. All of those teams will advance to the third round on Friday. The home schedule is now complete for the UNCW men's basketball team. Friday's Full Court Press featured a victory by Hoggard against West Brunswick in a battle for second place in the Mideastern Conference. We had basketball coverage from Ashley-Laney. Both games in Buctown came down to the wire. We checked out New Hanover-South Brunswick, Trask-Clinton & Pender-Wallace-Rose Hill. We even sneaked in college action too! Less dunks than normal, but WWAY still attended the MLK Jamfest on Monday at Union High School in Sampson County. The event featured seven different basketball games on the same court on a day where students didn't have to attend school. In college men's hoops Cape Fear Community College and NC State both won, but the UNC Tar Heels did not. Plus more! Full story...
