Charge dismissed against former elections director

A domestic violence charge was dismissed Monday against former New Hanover County elections director Marvin McFadyen when the alleged victim in the case failed to show up in court, according to the New Hanover County District Attorney’s Office.

Whiteville’s Shaun Kirk is heading to NC State to play basketball

UNCW was one of the first schools to make an official offer to Whiteville senior Shaun Kirk for men’s college basketball. As it turns out Kirk has decided to play college hoops in Raleigh at NC State after weighing his options with other schools including Wake Forest and Memphis.
