Week number one of the high school football season is finally over. Topsail and Trask completed Friday's suspended game on Monday. West Bladen didn't even hit the field until Monday due to a wet field last week. Russell Dove picked up his first win ever as a head coach. Former Hoggard Viking Jonathan Cooper underwent surgery on Monday. Cooper broke his left leg over the weekend in a preseason game. Plus more! Full story...

On Monday night at 11 we featured the Ashley Screamin' Eagles on our "Two-A-Days" high school football feature on WWAY. Three teams remain alive in the American Legion World Series, but Wilmington Post isn't one of them. Former UNCW & Laney coach Bobby Guthrie will be inducted into the NCHSAA Hall of Fame. Plus more! The high school football season is here. Despite the rain the BB&T Jamboree was played as scheduled at Legion Stadium in Wilmington on Friday night. Check out the first 5th Quarter of 2013. In baseball Wilmington Post 10 won their opening game at the American Legion World Series. Post 10 will face Louisiana on Saturday in a winner's bracket contest. Full story...

On Tuesday WWAY's John Rendleman and Trot Nixon both attended the luncheon for the upcoming BB&T Jamboree. It's not just a scrimmage. It's the unofficial start to the high school football season. On Tuesday we heard from a Post 10 baseball player. The brackets are set and Post 10 is World Series bound. The Wilmington Hammerheads have two big games this week at home. Plus more! Full story...

High School students throughout New Hanover County dressed in caps and gowns for graduation this weekend at UNCW's Trask Coliseum. Graduates from Ashley, Hoggard, New Hanover, and Laney High Schools say they are excited for the next step in their leaves. Full story...

On Tuesday the North Brunswick Scorpions advanced in the state baseball playoffs. Trask advanced in the softball playoffs. Ashley High has a new head basketball coach. NC State football coach Dave Doeren rolled into Wilmington to meet with the Wilmington Wolfpack Club. UNCW racked up at the CAA baseball awards banquet. The Bobcats will be the Hornets soon. On Friday we had state playoff action from Ashley, Hoggard, Whiteville and Cerro Gordo on WWAY. The biggest upset of the night took place in Whiteville where the defending 2-A state baseball champs lost to Clinton. Trask won the 1-A state title in track. On Friday the Wilmington Hammerheads dropped to 1-4 on the season. UNCW had an historic win in men's tennis. Seahawk Lori Beth Adams continues to tear up the golf course. Plus more! Full story...
