videoOn Tuesday the North Brunswick Scorpions advanced in the state baseball playoffs. Trask advanced in the softball playoffs. Ashley High has a new head basketball coach. NC State football coach Dave Doeren rolled into Wilmington to meet with the Wilmington Wolfpack Club. UNCW racked up at the CAA baseball awards banquet. The Bobcats will be the Hornets soon. WWAY's Friday night sports - May 10

videoOn Friday we had state playoff action from Ashley, Hoggard, Whiteville and Cerro Gordo on WWAY. The biggest upset of the night took place in Whiteville where the defending 2-A state baseball champs lost to Clinton. Trask won the 1-A state title in track. On Friday the Wilmington Hammerheads dropped to 1-4 on the season. UNCW had an historic win in men's tennis. Seahawk Lori Beth Adams continues to tear up the golf course. Plus more!

video The Wilmington Hammerheads and UNCW baseball team both saw road trips come to an end; the return to the Port City went better on the diamond than the pitch. We've also got high school highlights including a Mideastern Conference championship game.

videoThe Ashley boys track and field team captured first place in the championship track meet for the Mideastern Conference. It's the fourth year in a row for Ashley earning top honors. The Laney girls won first place in the Mideastern for the first time ever. On Wednesday we checked out rainy baseball action from Buctown between Laney and New Bern. Plus more!

videoOn Tuesday former Pender Patriot basketball standout Addison Spruill gave a verbal commitment to Buzz Peterson and the UNCW Seahawks. On Tuesday the UNCW men's tennis team found out their opponent for the upcoming NCAA men's tennis tournament. We had loads of high school action from Tuesday as well.

WWAY's Friday night sports - April 19; Hammerheads win opener, CAA golf and more

videoThe rain held off, but it was awfully windy. Regardless, the Wilmington Hammerheads shutout Antigua 2-0 on Friday in the season opener at Legion Stadium. WWAY checked out first round CAA women's golf action from St. James Plantation. We had plenty of high school baseball as well.Plus more!

videoOn Tuesday the UNCW baseball team beat East Carolina for the second time this season. It's the first season sweep for UNCW over ECU since 2003. In high school sports we had game highlights from Ashley-Hoggard and West Brunswick-North Brunswick. Plus more!
