videoTrot Nixon, Fletcher Bates, Parker Southerland, Chris Luther and Eric Faulk were just a few of the New Hanover Wildcats who attended a reunion for the 1993 state championship baseball team. WWAY was there for all the tall tales. This is clearly one of the best teams in the history of Wilmington sports. Plus more!

videoOn Thursday we checked out baseball & softball action from Shallotte between West Brunswick and Whiteville. We had baseball and soccer from Wilmington. This showcased Ashley, Hoggard, Laney and New Hanover. Former UNCW women's head basketball coach Cynthia Cooper-Dyke is on the move. On Thursday she announced she's heading back to Southern Cal. videoOn Thursday UNCW head basketball coach Buzz Peterson gave a quick glimpse on the future of his Seahawk squad. Brett Blizzard will be taking his coaching talent to Atlanta this weekend. We checked out Blizzard's team. On Thursday former UNCW & Rutgers guard Tyree Graham provided insight on Mike Rice's coaching style during practices at Rutgers. Plus more!

videoOn Tuesday the UNCW baseball team rolled over the College of Charleston. The Cape Fear Academy boys tennis team secured their spot as the best high school team in New Hanover County. videoOn Monday the UNCW men's golf team captured the Seahawk Invitational. Seahawk junior Payne McLeod won the individual title by five strokes. The Ashley Spring Break Baseball Tournament is now underway. Ashley was the only local team to win on Monday. Plus more!

videoThe Maryland Terrapins may not make it into next week's NCAA Tournament, but the Terps sure made a big statement on Friday eliminating Duke the ACC Tournament. McSwain steps down as Ashley hoops coach

videoAshley High School basketball coach Bryn McSwain has resigned as the boys basketball coach after five seasons on the job. The Screaming Eagles recently wrapped up a 17-9 season.

See what Brett Blizzard and Kevin Schneider had to say about Hoggard's overtime loss. WWAY's Wednesday night sports - Feb. 27 Farewell to Keith Rendleman & second round state playoffs

videoWednesday turned out to be a fairly dramatic night in our region for second round state playoff action in high school basketball. We showcased six high school games plus the backyard Brunswick-Cape Fear men's college game. On top of that it was senior night at UNCW where Keith Rendleman and Matt Wilson both played their final game at Trask Coliseum.

videoConference championship tournament night is in the books. The New Hanover boys won a tournament title, along with the Laney girls, the East Columbus boys, the East Columbus girls, the Whiteville boys and the Whitevile girls. State playoff action will start on Monday.
