Brett Blizzard and Craig Callahan are synonymous with UNCW basketball. Ironically, this week they're having to face each other as opponents in the playoffs in Italy. In order to extend their season into the baseball state playoffs the Laney Buccaneers had to win the Mideastern Conference. As it turns out the Buccaneers lost in the opening round; thus, the season is now over for Laney baseball. Plus more! Full story...

Former NFL tight end Alge Crumpler will be returning to Wilmington this weekend. The New Hanover High graduate heads this year's induction class for the 2014 Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame. On Wednesday we addressed the home scoring drought for the Wilmington Hammerheads. On Wednesday the NCHSSA adopted new guidelines concerning the mercy rule for high school football and basketball. Whiteville High swept South Columbus on Monday in high school hoops. We had highlights from both games on WWAY. Brett Blizzard continues to scorch the nets in Italy. Blizzard pumped in 18 in his team's victory over the weekend. UNCW continues to slide in the national RPI rankings in basketball for both men and women. Plus more! Full story...

WWAY Full Court Press co-host Brett Blizzard will be taking another leave of absence from Wilmington in order to play professional basketball in the Italian Basketball League. Blizzard departed Wilmington on Saturday. The Italian season runs through April. Ciao! Plus more! Full story...

Wilmington's Cari Blalock finished in 4th place at the US Open Swimming Championships on Thursday. This was the first day of official high school football practice all across the state. The Wilmington Sharks clinched a playoff spot of Thursday. WWAY's Full Court Press co-host Brett Blizzard will be representing North Carolina in two more weeks at a showcase basketball game. Blizzard will be joined by several former ACC basketball standouts. Tony Kanaan won the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday. Kevin Harvick won the Coca-Cola 600. The Wilmington Sea Dawgs dropped another home basketball game. The Dawgs are now out of playoff contention. Former Ashley baseball standout Trevor Kelly earned the save for UNC in Sunday's ACC baseball title game. Five ACC schools will host baseball regional competition next weekend. Full story...
