After weeks of public and even national outrage, New Hanover County Commissioners have voted in favor of nearly $9,000 in family planning funding. Last month, the board unanimously voted against accepting the money.

Guilty. That's the verdict in a trial this morning for New Hanover County Commissioner Brian Berger. A judge found Berger did violate a protective order filed by his ex-girlfriend.

Brian Berger has been released from jail after being back behind bars Friday. The New Hanover County Commissioner was arrested Friday morning after he failed to appear in court. Berger is no stranger to running behind schedule, but Friday there was a serious price to pay for his tardiness.

A vote to transfer thousands of dollars in private donations to the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority to help county residents without water seemed to be a no-brainer to the majority of county commissioners. Two we spoke with say they just don't understand why Berger would vote against it.

Documents filed last week show steps are being taken to foreclose on Berger's home. We also have paperwork that proves his ex-girlfriend, who is also listed on the deed, has been trying to sell or rent the home, but Berger has been less than cooperative.
