Cape Fear Academy

A lockdown has been lifted at Cape Fear Academy after a gas main break near the campus. The break was reported shortly before 4 p.m. in the 3900 block of South College Road. Emergency crews have closed traffic in both directions as they work to stop the leaking gas. Full story...

Friday night’s sports segment featured high school baseball state playoff action from West Brunswick. We also checked out the North Brunswick baseball team against North Pitt. We traveled to Ashley to watch the softball team defeat West Johnston 4-2 for the district title. The Hoggard girls soccer team was also in action tonight as they hosted Pinecrest. Full story...

This includes two different teams who put their undefeated records on the line. Undefeated New Hanover held off Ashley, but just barely. The UNC Wilmington men's basketball team defeated Northeastern on Wednesday night in Boston. Buzz Peterson's team is now 2-1 in the CAA. Brunswick Community College had a lead on Wednesday, but unlike the Seahawks the Dolphins were not able to hold onto their advantage against Pitt Community College. Full story...

Ashley senior Mason Boyles hasn't been able to compete on the high school level since the spring of his sophomore year due to a suspension that centered around his residency.
