Wednesday night's sports segment featured high school baseball action between Whiteville and defending 1A state champion East Columbus. We also checked out two area high school soccer matches. South Columbus tied East Columbus 1-1, while Whiteville shutout North Brunswick 7-0. We also took a look at some local boys tennis action between Cape Fear Academy and Laney High School. On Tuesday night we featured highlights from Norfolk, Virginia. Old Dominion beat UNCW in men's basketball 81-64. KK Simmons returned to the court for UNCW after a brief suspension. On Tuesday night we featured high school basketball action from Wilmington and Hampstead. Click full story to see the complete high school basketball scoreboard from Tuesday night's play. This includes two different teams who put their undefeated records on the line. Undefeated New Hanover held off Ashley, but just barely. Undefeated Croatan held off Topsail, but it took overtime for the Cougars to win. Full story...

The UNC Wilmington men's basketball team defeated Northeastern on Wednesday night in Boston. Buzz Peterson's team is now 2-1 in the CAA. Brunswick Community College had a lead on Wednesday, but unlike the Seahawks the Dolphins were not able to hold onto their advantage against Pitt Community College. Full story...

Ashley senior Mason Boyles hasn't been able to compete on the high school level since the spring of his sophomore year due to a suspension that centered around his residency. He's back in rare form along with New Hanover distance runner Shelby Howell. She's not running against the girls. Howell is competing against the boys instead. Full story...
