videoEven though crime in Wilmington is down, sometimes statistics still don't make you feel more safe. But, one thing that can help you feel more safe is learning self defense. A class can get your heart pumping a bit making you more prepared for when it really starts pumping.

Another one gets away from Buzz & company

A comfortable lead certainly isn't a sure thing this season for the UNCW men's basketball team. The Seahawks let another possible victory slip away. UNCW led by 14 points at the half, but Hofstra ended up beating UNC Wilmington by double digits. Buzz Peterson's squad currently holds a school record 14 game losing streak. Cape Fear CC lost on Saturday too, but BCC won.

videoFriday's Full Court Press featured a come from behind victory by New Hanover against West Brunswick in a battle of first place versus second place in the Mideastern Conference. We had basketball coverage from Hoggard-Laney, Topsail-South Brunswick, Trask-Midway, North Brunswick-Dixon and East Columbus-Red Springs too. We couldn't decide on the play of the week; therefore, we had two. Plus more!

video13 is not considered to be a lucky number. Superstitious or not, 13 is now the losing streak for the UNCW men's basketball team after another tough loss at home against a conference foe. Laney hosted a special ceremony on Wednesday. Michael Jordan's replica jersey now hangs on the wall in Buctown, but the New Hanover Wildcats swept the action on the floor. Plus more!

R.A.D. comes to New Hanover County

videoWomen can help themselves feel more secure with the help of the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office. Deputies said, for the first time, the agency is teaming up with the Rape Aggression Defense System, better known as RAD, to offer self defense classes to women at the Cape Fear Community College north campus.

videoOn Wednesday night the losing skid continued for the UNCW Seahawks and head coach Buzz Peterson. The Seahawks lost a heartbreaker on the road against the College of Charleston. Check out our game action. In high school hoops the East Bladen girls remained undefeated with a come from behind win over West Bladen. We had highlights from the East Bladen boys game too. WWAY's Monday night sports - January 20

videoLess dunks than normal, but WWAY still attended the MLK Jamfest on Monday at Union High School in Sampson County. The event featured seven different basketball games on the same court on a day where students didn't have to attend school. In college men's hoops Cape Fear Community College and NC State both won, but the UNC Tar Heels did not. Plus more!

Seahawks continue slide + more Saturday sports

Duke & North Carolina both appear to be back on track in men's basketball, but that's not the case for Buzz Peterson's UNCW squad. The Seahawks squandered a 13 point halftime lead on Saturday. The losing skid for UNCW is now nine losses in a row. A handful of local high school squads played games on Saturday afternoon. Plus the season is now underway for the Wilmington Sea Dawgs!

videoFriday's Full Court Press featured basketball action from Brunswick County, New Hanover County, Columbus County, Onslow County and Pender County. We also took an in-depth look at Monday's MLK Jamfest that will be held in Sampson County. Our play of the week on Friday night turned out to be a buzzer beater from an area player whose yet to reach high school.
