Buzz Peterson's basketball team is on a bit of a roll. The UNCW Seahawks are now 6-5 on the season after a 19 point win over Campbell. We had four high school basketball games on WWAY on Tuesday. Despite a frosty 1-of-22 from three-point range the UNCW Seahawks managed to beat Campbellsville on Tuesday night at Trask Coliseum. Buzz Peterson's squad improves to 4-4 on the season. We also had high school basketball on Tuesday from Hampstead and Trask. Plus more! Full story...

On Tuesday we made the trip to Tabor City to get reaction from South Columbus football coach Jake Fonvielle on an NCHSAA ruling that puts an end to the season for the Stallions. The high school football regular season is complete. On Friday we had highlights on the 5th Quarter from Whiteville-South Columbus, East Bladen-West Bladen, East Columbus-West Columbus, New Hanover-Topsail, West Brunswick-Ashley, Hoggard-South Brunswick, North Brunswick-East Duplin and Trask-Pender. In fact we had postgame reaction from Trask's first victory of the season and postgame reaction from the South Columbus win over Whiteville. Full story...

The Cape Fear Community College women's basketball team won their 2013-14 season opener with ease on Tuesday night against Mount Olive. The UNCW men's soccer team hopes to knock off CAA perennial power Northeastern in one more night. New Hanover, Laney and South Brunswick have third round state playoff soccer games in one more night. On Sunday UNCW continued its domination in exhibition games with its 26th consecutive preseason victory following an easy 92-51 decision over NCAA Division III Methodist Sunday at Trask Coliseum. The UNCW volleyball team also won. We had highlights from both of those games on WWAY. The Cape Fear Community College women's soccer team captured the Region X title on Sunday. Quate McKinzie has transferred from Pender High to Harrells Christian Academy. McKinzie is a sophomore who's already on the radar of several college coaches. In Thursday night football Whiteville and Wallace-Rose Hill both won. We have a week 11 preview of Friday games. On a related note some schools will start football games early on Friday. Plus more! The UNCW men's basketball team held a intrasquad scrimmage on Thursday night at Trask Coliseum. We were there for that along with three different state playoff high school volleyball games. The St. Louis Cardinals beat Boston on Thursday to even the World Series at one game apiece. We have a complete week 10 preview for high school football. Plus more! Full story...
