A vote to transfer thousands of dollars in private donations to the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority to help county residents without water seemed to be a no-brainer to the majority of county commissioners. Two we spoke with say they just don't understand why Berger would vote against it.

Most of us cannot imagine living without water, but there are hundreds of people in New Hanover County who will spend Christmas without it. A Wilmington woman we spoke with today decided to do something about it. Yesterday she donated $10,000 to help out.

It's no secret that the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority has had its issues in the past three years.
Rate increases and the authority's tier structure have many customers up in arms about the authority. It's to the point some folks have decided to take getting water into their own hands.

New Hanover County Commissioners have removed Commissioner Brian Berger from most of the community boards he sits on. The Commission made the decision at its Agenda Briefing this afternoon. It's still pending an official vote at Monday's County Commission meeting.

Recent decisions by Wilmington City Council and the Brunswick County School Board to hand out employee bonuses have upset many tax payers. The question of pay hikes during the down economy was up for debate again this morning; this time by the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority.

With millions of dollars in bond debt the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority will be forced to increase bills in the future. Wilmington residents have had issues with the utility company's billing for quite some time. Wednesday night the CFPUA had its annual meeting and invited the public to voice its complaints.

There are no current overflows or failures at any CFPUA facilities. Crews worked diligently through the storm to prevent events.

Cape Fear Public Utility Authority Customers in a New Hanover County neighborhood are advised to boil their water before using it. Customers in the Laurel Ridge subdivision near Carolina Beach Road reported a loss of service or low water pressure Monday night.
