On Wednesday, December 15, the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority will be conducting a shutdown of a 30" waterline at the Sweeney Water Treatment Facility to facilitate required maintenance as facility construction and improvements continue. This shutdown will last approximately 6 hours from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Tuesday night Wilmington City Council tabled the CFPUA's request to hire a collection agency to gather delinquent funds. Council member Kevin O'Grady believes technical issues at the utility are so serious, that the request is "not ready to be considered."

CFPUA Utility Services will be conducting an emergency water line repair at the Carolina Beach Rd./Front St./Burnett Blvd. intersection on Tuesday. Crews will begin work at 11 p.m. and expect to have the work completed by 6 a.m. the following morning. No customers will be without water during this repair.
