video On Tuesday night the New Hanover County School Board recognized the New Hanover boys basketball team for winning the 4-A state championship in high school basketball. WWAY was there for that. We also checked out baseball action from UNCW and Ashley High School (and softball). On top of that we covered the resignation of UNCW women's basketball coach Cynthia Cooper-Dyke.

UNCW will host WNIT game on Thursday

They're dancing again. For the second year in a row the UNC Wilmington women's basketball team earned an invitation to a post-season tournament. The Seahawks received their invite late Monday night. UNCW will host the Appalachian State Mountaineers on Thursday at Trask Coliseum in the 15th Annual Women's National Invitation Tournament. It's not the NCAA, but the WNIT is the best alternative.

UNCW women's basketball team loses to nationally ranked Hens; WNIT bid next?

UNCW's run in the CAA Women's Basketball Tournament came to a crashing halt on Saturday afternoon when the Seahawks ran into the nationally ranked Delaware Blue Hens. Cynthia Cooper Dyke's team drops to 20-12 record with the loss. The Seahawks must now play the waiting game. They're hoping to receive a bid to the WNIT for the second year in a row.

video On Wednesday night the UNC Wilmington women's basketball team concluded their regular season with a win over Georgia State. The CFCC Sea Devil men's basketball nipped arch-rival Brunswick Community College. Tyler Zeller scored 30 to lead UNC over Maryland. NC State edged Miami. The New Hanover Wildcats are preparing for Thursday's high school basketball showdown with Millbrook. Plus, St. John's shutout UNCW in college baseball.
