video It's been a dry year across North Carolina pushing much of the state into a moderate drought. While the clear, dry conditions may mean good beach weather, it is also having a very negative effect on our environment.

Dry spring could mean problems for our area

video You can already see how dry it's been in the streams, rivers, marshes and lawns across the area, but the numbers back it up as well. So far this year we're four inches behind. That's a 25 percent deficit.

Wilmington's drought update

videoNorth Carolina had its driest year on record in 2007. In Wilmington, it was the third driest year, with just less than 33.5 inches of rainfall. Luckily, this year has been much wetter.
