On Monday the UNCW men's golf team captured the Seahawk Invitational. Seahawk junior Payne McLeod won the individual title by five strokes. The Ashley Spring Break Baseball Tournament is now underway. Ashley was the only local team to win on Monday. Plus more! Full story...

The basketball season concluded for the North Carolina Tar Heels on Sunday, but the season continues for Miami and Duke. The CAA is about to lose another member school. George Mason is expected to officially announce their plans to join the Atlantic 10 on Monday. Former New Hanover Wildcat swimmer Cari Blalock set an ACC record on Thursday when she finished in 10th place on Thursday in the 200 I.M. at the NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championship in Indianapolis. On Wednesday the Cleveland Cavaliers did more than test the Miami Heat. Miami overcame a 27 point deficit to keep the second longest NBA streak in history alive. The UNCW baseball team is also streaking. The Seahawks beat Charleston Southern on Wednesday. Former New Hanover track standout Jermaine Jones recently won an individual national championship. The East Columbus girls basketball team won three state playoff games last week, but the season came to a crashing halt for the Gators on Tuesday night in state playoff regional play. The start of Sunday's Daytona 500 belonged to Danica Patrick, but Jimmie Johnson stole the show at the end edging out Dale Earnhardt Jr. Sunday was a fairly busy sports day at UNCW.
