East Bladen girls and West Bladen boys remain undefeated in basketball

videoDespite the short distance teams from New Hanover County rarely travel to Bladen County to play basketball, but Ashley High did make the trip on Monday night in order to face East Bladen. We also made the trip in order to check out hoops from two different locations: Ashley vs. East Bladen and South Columbus vs. West Bladen.

Eagles sweep Gators in East Bladen-East Columbus basketball matchup

videoVeteran boys basketball head coach Ken Cross picked up another victory on Thursday night. He's inching closer to 700 career wins with every breath. The East Bladen girls were dominant in their victory over East Columbus. Lacey Suggs tied a career high with 32 points on Thursday night.

Pairings set for second round of playoffs

The brackets are now set for round two of the high school football state playoffs. Round two games will be held on November 21. Games are likely to be much closer than some of the outcomes we saw in the first round.

Season ends in "4-A East Finals" for New Hanover boys soccer team

videoBroughton High School will play for a state soccer championship on Saturday after beating New Hanover on Tuesday in the "4-A East Finals" for boys high school soccer. WWAY made the trip to Raleigh. Check out our game highlights and postgame reaction. The latest AP rankings are out for high school football. Hoggard finally breaks into the top ten. First round of boys soccer playoffs complete

videoThe first round of the soccer playoffs concluded on Wednesday night all around the state. The majority of our local squads won. Winners advance to the second round of the state playoffs later this week. Plus, we checked in with former UNCW Seahawk basketball standout Adam Smith on Wednesday. Smith now plays basketball at Virginia Tech.

videoFriday's 5th Quarter was action packed despite the fact we kept our eye on the weather all night long. The first half of the Hoggard game was clearly a spectator's delight. It was a mixture of dynamic plays combined with a bit of intrigue. We have a lengthy recap of the Hoggard game. Unfortunately, it'll go down as a no contest.
