On Monday NC State introduced Wes Moore as the new leader of the pack for women's basketball. Moore replaces Kellie Harper. Former East Bladen Eagle football standout Desmond Bryant purchased a variety of sports equipment for the East Bladen football team. Thursday was an historic day at Coastal Christian High School. WWAY co-host and World Series champion Trot Nixon threw out the first pitch at the new ballpark. North Brunswick ushered in the Dustin Medlin era in baseball. It ended with a splash. Camp is dismissed for the Hammerheads. It sure was fun! Plus more! Full story...

The Hoggard boys basketball team will be in the Mideastern Conference championship game for the fifth year in a row. It'll be the Vikings vs. the New Hanover Wildcats on Friday. In the Waccamaw Conference slowing the game down worked for the West Brunswick boys. They'll be in the finals on Friday. The East Bladen girls knocked off arch-rival West Bladen on Friday. Plus more! On Tuesday night the Hoggard boys held their ground by defeating New Hanover in boys basketball. The Vikings remain in sole possession of first place in the Mideastern Conference. Laney now holds first place for the girls. In the Waccamaw Conference there's now a three way tie for first place in the boys with South Columbus, West Brunswick and North Brunswick. Full story...

On Thursday the New Hanover Wildcat boys basketball team improved their league record to 3-1 with a 49-38 victory over Rose. We had action from Greenville. The UNCW women's basketball suffered another CAA setback. The Carolina Hurricanes picked up their first win of the 2013 season. Plus more! Full story...

The streak is over. West Bladen had a 17 game winning streak over East Bladen in boys basketball until Tuesday night. East Bladen's Hastin McGill hit the game winner to give East Bladen a 46-44 win. It was the first victory for East Bladen over West Bladen since 2005. Pender defeated Trask in boys hoops. Wake Forest edged NC State. The Carolina Hurricanes lost their home opener. Full story...

Rasheed Brown of Trask was the frontrunner for WWAY's play of the night with a sensational slam dunk in the second quarter for Trask. It didn't end up being the play of the night though. Ashley's T.J. Williams ended up with that honor after he slammed home a dunk at the buzzer to give Ashley a one point win over New Hanover. On Friday we featured action from seven different venues with eleven games in all on WWAY's Full Court Press. Full story...
