Senate candidates debate in Wilmington

The first debate of the campaign was held in Wilmington on Saturday between incumbent Richard Burr, democratic challenger Elaine Marshall and libertarian Michael Bietler. All candidates made a point of attacking the current system in Washington.

Elaine Marshall's campaign today rejected WWAY's invitation to take part in a June 2 debate. Cal Cunningham's campaign accepted the invitation the same day it was offered last week.
