video A Wilmington man kicks a shark and then gets attacked. Josh Clement, 25, was surfing off Figure Eight Island with some friends Saturday. About 3 p.m., he caught a wave in. As he was jumping back on his board to paddle back out, he accidentally kicked the shark. He says the shark then turned and bit his left foot. Full story...

A security guard notified 911 that a residence at 3 Skimmer Road was on fire. Firefighters from New Hanover County Station 62 arrived and found heavy smoke and flames visible from a three story residence. Full story...

One dead after boat capsizes

Memorial Day is known as the unofficial start to summer. And this summer is officially off to a deadly start after a boat capsized in the water off Figure Eight Island last night. Of the two people who were in the boat, only one was able to swim to shore. It is believed that the 22-foot center console boat capsized around 6 p.m. in Rich Inlet. Full story...
