The Wilmington Hammerheads haven't won a soccer game since late May. They were hoping that would change on Friday night in Pennsylvania, but the Harrisburg City Islanders and the Hammerheads ended up with a scoreless draw. The Hammerheads will face Rochester on Saturday night in New York. The Wilmington Sharks did win though. The Sharks beat the Florence RedWolves with the addition of a new player from UNCW. Plus more! FootGolf isn't the latest rage yet, but there's hope at the Meadowlands Golf Club in Brunswick County that it'll catch on with golfers and soccer enthusiasts. Public play is set to open this weekend for the newest sport in Calabash. Full story...

Hoggard graduate Joe O'Donnell picked up his second win of the season on the mound on Thursday for the Wilmington Sharks. In front of one of the largest crowds of the season the Sharks beat Morehead City. Michael Jordan won't be suiting up for the Charlotte Hornets, but his team will at least look sharp. The Hornets unveiled their new uniforms on Thursday. In Pinehurst a 6th grader won over the crowd with an impressive round at the U.S. Open and a few licks of ice cream during her media conference. Sharky was awfully busy on his birthday. The mascot of the Wilmington Sharks ended his day with a home victory over the Morehead City Marlins. In Pinehurst the lead is six shots by Martin Kaymer after two rounds over his nearest competitor at the US Open. Full story...

Carolina Beach hosted the national championship for beach wrestling in 2013 and 2014. On Tuesday we found out the event will be returning to Carolina Beach for the next two years. The UNCW baseball team is on a roll. The Seahawks are now two games above .500 in the CAA after escaping with a 3-2 win on Friday. With its postseason hopes on the line, NC State rose to the challenge on Friday at Virginia Tech, dropping the Hokies 9-4 in the opener before clinching a spot in the ACC Tournament with a 6-5 win in the nightcap + more! UNCW won eight events, including both relays, as the Seahawks claimed their 11th Colonial Athletic Association men’s track & field championship over the weekend. We had our sports cameras out and about on Tuesday. We checked out the signing day ceremony at Laney, plus three different athletic events involving Ashley and Hoggard. On top of that we showcased the boys high school golf championship for New Hanover County on Tuesday that featured Laney, Hoggard, Ashley, New Hanover, Cape Fear Academy and Wilmington Christian.
