UNCW men’s basketball head coach Kevin Keatts cast a wide net on the recruiting trail this fall and made an impressive haul that he believes will put his UNCW Seahawks on a strong foundation for years to come. Laney, New Hanover and Whiteville all won second round state playoff soccer games on Monday night. All three schools will hit the soccer pitch again on Wednesday for third round state playoff action. On our sports on Monday we had game coverage from the Laney-Hoggard playoff tilt and the New Hanover-Cape Fear playoff affair. Full story...

Hoggard, Pender, South Columbus and Wilmington Christian all won state playoff volleyball games on Thursday night. Odds are we'll have at least one state champion from the area this year. On Thursday New Hanover won the boys soccer crown for the Mideastern Conference. We were there for that too. Plus, the Landfall Tradition tees off on Friday. Prior to the event we caught up with UNCW Seahawk golfer Kayla Thompson. The UNCW freshman is a graduate of West Bladen High. Full story...

On Wednesday New Hanover shutout Hoggard in boys soccer. We were there to see some of the action. The Wildcats will earn a league title if they can win on Thursday against Ashley. Four area volleyball teams will continue their state playoff journey on Thursday. In fact the Wilmington Christian squad has a shot at securing a state volleyball title this weekend in Greensboro. Pender High senior Briana Pittman moved into 6th place nationally for career blocks in high school volleyball. Pittman now has 622 career blocks. We were in Burgaw on Tuesday when Pender's state playoff game was halted in order to recognize Pittman's achievement. We also had sports coverage from New Hanover, Hoggard and Laney on Tuesday. Stilman White started two games for the North Carolina Tar Heels in the NCAA Basketball Tournament in 2012. He hasn't played in a college game since. That's about to change soon though. His Mormon mission is now over. We made the trip to Chapel Hill on Wednesday to sit down with the Tar Heel basketball guard to talk about hoops, his mission trip and a jersey change that involves Michael Jordan. Full story...

With a 6-0 record Hoggard is on a roll in high school football. The Vikings defeated New Hanover last Friday; therefore, we stayed in town in order to present the Vikings with our team of the week award. Full story...

Laney played a man up against Hoggard on Tuesday for the majority of the Mideastern Conference soccer game. The Bucs eventually found the back of the net midway through the second half to beat Hoggard 1-0. Hoggard was able to beat Laney in volleyball though. We were in Buctown for both events. Full story...
